New videos from Camilo's preschool

Hi all,

Here are a few new videos from Camilo's preschool. The teachers and kids threw an amazing "Fiesta de Invierno" (Winter Party) last week, with singing and dancing by the kids and teachers, as well as a special visit by Santa Klaus!

It was great to spend some time with the kids, their parents, and the teachers, and we came away with some great memories that I am now happy to share. Click on the video images to view the videos below. If you have a slow internet connection, it might take a little longer to start each video. Enjoy!

Update

Hi everyone,

Greetings everyone! Thank you to all of you who have written, called or asked about us, we apologize for not keeping in touch, but we have been busy unpacking and adjusting to a new life in the US. Although we had a couple difficult first months health wise, with Camilo catching all kinds of viruses and other unknown and invisible stuff at his day care, things have settled down, and we are enjoying life in Pittsboro, NC.

I am writing late at night, so will keep this very brief, but wanted to let you know that I am finally getting around to downloading photos and videos from the last few months, and have uploaded 3 videos to our blog, the top two taken at our home in North Carolina, and the third one before we left Nicaragua:

I have a ton of photos to sort and upload, but that will be another day. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the videos posted, and that you enjoy thanksgiving and/or griteria!

Dear friends and family members,

As some of you already know, after five years of living in Nicaragua, Millie and I have decided to return to the U.S. It has been a hard decision because we will miss so many wonderful friends and family that we have here in Nicaragua.

I have been offered a job at Executive Director of El Vinculo Hispano, a Latino organization located in Chatham County, North Carolina, close to Durham. Millie will be taking some time off to help us get settled and be with Camilo during the transition and then looking around for how to get connected to the social justice scene there.

We also want to let folks know that the beautiful house that we have been renting for the past three years will become available. It is a four-bedroom home with a great patio overlooking a big yard. Even though it is in the heart of the city in Colonia Centoamerica, it feels like the country because it has so many trees and is on a dead-end street. It is well-situated to receive constant breezes and it has a brand-new water pump and 2 huge water tanks. Click here to see a few house photos. If you are interested, we can put you in touch with the owner.

For those of you in Nicaragua, be assured that we will continue to stay in touch with many of you since we will always remain connected to the country. We will write again once we have a permanent address and contact information.

With much love,

Millie, Ronald and Camilo

Estimados amigos y familiares,

Abrazos calurosos,

Millie, Ronald y Camilo

Bathtime in Managua, Nicaragua, early December 2007.

Fortunately, lights have not been going out for a month or so now, but blackouts may come back sometime this year, depending on what our government and the monopoly company that runs the energy show decide here. (Click on triangle above to view video, might take a fwe seconds to start)
